It's midterm time, and that means it's also time for me to ask you for your comments. Feedback is a really important component of improvement. And it makes no sense to wait until the end-of-term evals if there's something I can be doing better now. (Yeah, I know my intro psych clicker "experiment" is not going like I'd planned. I'm working on it...)

Uh, yeah, I've got a question for you. Why were you 1 minute late to your PSYCO 494 midterm?

You're right, I was late. Fortunately, my admin assistant Chris was there on time with the exams. Don't know what I'd do without her.
Anyway, what happened, well it's a funny story. Maybe I'll write a blog post about it...
Enjoying the class so far, sorry to hear the department is killing your courses. Don't feel bad people in power rarely do the right or intelligent thing. Hopefully they will be reborn in an even better incarnation.
I'm liking the class so far. I suggest you intersperse the iClicker questions throughout the lecture. That way you can see how well people are following, and also gives people more reason to stay focussed. iClicker batteries have lasted me an entire year when I left the power on for all the lectures of a course, so you don't have to worry about wasting people's batteries.
Also, you seemed to stress learning dates in class, but I don't remember seeing any dates on the midterm. ?
@Joel: I decided to skip clicker questions before the midterm because I was so far behind schedule. It is my plan to do them more frequently than I have been.
But I wouldn't want to do them more than once per class; for everybody to pull them out and set them up, it really takes a while. So I'm still trying to find the right balance. Thanks for your patience!

Enjoying PSYCO 267 so far, I like the format of the notes and the extra topics you include like subliminal advertising, video games etc.
The outline questions at the start of each chapter notes were especially helpful... I started studying each chapter by asking myself the questions, which helped focus my efforts on what I actually did/didn't know (as opposed to glancing at the notes and telling myself "Ok, got it!"). Finally I came back to them later to make sure I could answer all the questions.
@Anonymous: Glad to hear that those are helping. I'm on a committee right now looking at establishing learning outcomes for psychology courses. It turns out that explicitly stating learning objectives can help students reach target outcomes.
Is the class curved? Are the questions multiple choice?
